“Let Food Be Thy Medicine” --Hippocrates
Adequate nutrition reduces the risk of chronic disease leading to overall health and well being. The seven major classes of nutrients are carbohydrates, fats, fiber, minerals, protein, vitamins and water. Unfortunately, these days, research has determined that our whole food nutrients are lacking the nutrients needed to carry out this mission. Our soil is depleted, too often produce is harvested long before it has ripened nd the most vital phytonutrients (plant nutrients) are developed during the last few days of ripening. Animals are fed from sources that are not ideal. Since we cannot depend solely upon present day food to provide adequate vitamins, minerals, micro minerals and nutrients it is important to augment these nutrients with supplements.
Whole-food nutrition is the most important aspect to proper health, and the goal is to get as much of that nutrition as possible from what grows from the earth. (Supplements Desk Reference, Jen O’Sullivan)
